8 seconds to glory...

On Friday night, we met Josh, Mary, & Braxton at Ed Walker's for a yummy, greasy dinner. It was a lot of fun & the kids had a great time, ESPECIALLY after dinner when they got to ride the red pig!

Hope you're having fun in St. Croix, Josh & Mary! I'm so jealous.... Miss ya! :)

The Big Trim......

We went in today for Dylan's haircut. So far, so good....we still have curls! Dylan was a little skiddish at first, but all it took was a dinosaur for her to hold & she was ready. Katie cut about an inch off, maybe a little more. I think I could've done more, but she encouraged me to take it slow this first time. She probably didn't want to deal with me (or Ryan) acting like a blubbering idiot if I didn't like it. Dylan's hair looks much healthier & she is so proud of it! I told her earlier that I loved her new haircut. She looked up at me so seriously & said, "Thanks, mommy. Katie do it. I'm glad you like it." Such a big girl! Thank you, Katie!!

WARNING...

This is just a "friendly" WARNING....

Tomorrow I am taking Dylan to get her hair cut. Why you ask??? Because she needs it! It has gotten a little stringy underneath & is way past due on a trim. In fact, she has only had one other hair cut when she was 6 or 7 months old! I hope it doesn't take her "beautiful" curls away... Katie (Dylan's beautician) says it may make her curls bounce back up, but REGARDLESS, it is a decision I have made & it needs to be done. Basically, I don't want to hear "why did you cut it" or "what were you thinking"! It's just a little trim, but I'm struggling with it SO if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!! I might cry....

"The" Lunch Bag

Last night, Dylan & I went to Kohl's to use a free $10 coupon I had. Needless to say, I used it on Dylan. She looked at all the toys & liked many, but she fell in love with this Sesame Street lunch bag. I'm not sure what the big attraction was, but she couldn't part with it. She told me a lot of stories about what she wanted to do with her new lunch bag & about "all the picnics" she would take it on. Seriously now, that's pretty cute! How could I resist? When I went into her room to check on her before going to bed, she had put it in bed with her & was holding on to it. It was precious!! Being the good, memory making mom I'm striving to be, I decided to get up a few minutes earlier than normal & make her a picnic breakfast in the new lunch bag. She was more than excited when I told her the surprise that awaited her! I don't think buttered toast, peeled apple slices, & juice have ever tasted better. She ate it all!!

Last week in review

Last week, Dylan got to spend a lot of time with some of her favorite people! On Tuesday night, we took her down to Josh's house for a post-bath, play date with Braxton. They were so excited to see each other!! They SHRILL screamed almost the entire time....just out of pure excitement. They L-O-V-E each other SO much! On Wednesday night, Katie & the girls (& Jordan) came over for pizza. It was a lot of fun. Dylan loves spending time with Punka & Baby Karlee. We had quite an exciting night, didn't we Katie?? :) On Thursday, Dylan & I went to Jennifer's house for a scentsy party, where she got to see several of mommy's good friends. And then on Friday, Dylan & I headed to Fayetteville to stay with Aunt Rachel. We shopped, ate, shopped, & ate. Carraba's & PF Chang's in 2 days=HEAVEN! It was a lot of fun!! We could've stayed longer!

I scream for ice cream

This weekend, I helped Paula with her garage sale. It was SO COLD & SO EXHAUSTING, but it was worth it. It feels so good to get rid of junk! Aunt Rachel came in on Friday & stayed with us. She took care of Dylan while I was wrapped up in the garage sale. The two of them had a great time together. Dylan was so excited to share her big girl bed with Rachel--2 nights in a row!! I also got a big treat this morning....I got to sleep in until 10:00 am!! This NEVER, EVER happens! Rachel got up with Dylan & shut my bedroom door. When I woke up & saw the clock, I was SO excited & even more excited to know that she had gotten me breakfast too. It seemed too good to be true. After Rachel left, Dylan & I spent our Sunday at home. It was so nice & relaxing. We love days like today! Since she had been such a good girl, I took her to Braum's for ice cream. What a fun treat!! After contemplating for 5 minutes, Dylan picked "orange" ice cream over "pink". She seemed very pleased with her choice, as I was with my pumkin ice cream.

When we got home, Dylan looked up to me & said "mommy, you're the best thing that ever happened to me." Of course I realize she only said this because I say it to her all the time, but regardless, it melted my heart!! Somebody get me a kleenex....

Dylan's 1st Field Trip

Last week was a BIG week for Dylan. Not only was it Halloween, but she also went on her very 1st field trip!! Ms. Chris took Dylan & 5 of her classmates to Wild Things Farm in Pocola. Here is a description of their trip from Ms. Chris....

We just got back from Wild Things Farm in Pocola http://www.wildthingsfarm.com/ . It was so much fun. First, we took a hay ride all around the farm, we met Belle the horse, then we went through the corn maze. After that we got to pick out our own small pumpkins to take home. We also got to pet a rabbit, feed the goats popcorn and "milk a cow". What a great morning! We wrapped up our field trip with lunch at McDonald's. Next week we are off to the Janet Huckabee Nature Center for more fun! The kids behaved so well. I was really proud of them all. I will send home pictures tomorrow. See you in a bit. Chris

Back to work I go...

Well, it's official....my vacation is over & I am sad about it! I did have some fun "me" time, but primarily I was busy working around the house. I am very pleased at my accomplishments! We completed Dylan's bedroom makeover, Ryan painted our bedroom (& hopefully he will finish the trim tomorrow), I cleaned out closets, organized, rearranged furniture, and cleaned some more. I did TONS of laundry, including washing & drying every bed pillow in our house...& we have a lot! I also got some of Dylan's clothes together to take to the consignment store & started gathering things for Paula's garage sale next weekend. I'm sure this doesn't sound like a good vacation to most, but I honestly enjoyed it. I don't have time in my normal, daily (working) life to do these things.

There are still several things on my "to do" list & I can't wait to tackle them. Hopefully I won't have to take vacation to accomplish them, but if I do, so be it! It was worth it. I did log on to Sparks website tonight to see how many paid vacation days I get a year....27 (6 of these are holidays)!!! I was thrilled! I had forgotten & seeing that reassured me that it was OK to take a week off & do chores. Hopefully next time, I will be on the beach, but for now, back to work I go!

Trick or Treat

We took our little pirate Trick or Treating on Friday night. She had a ball. This was the first year she understood the concept. We went to just a few friends & family's houses, but if it were up to her, we would've went all night. She couldn't get enough of it!!
